Prostate Spacer
The BioProtect Balloon is a biodegradable spacer designed for patients with prostate carcinoma undergoing radiotherapy. It is implanted between the prostate and rectum, creating a separation that reduces the dose to healthy tissues while allowing safer escalation of the tumor dose.
At the same time, it stabilizes the prostate, enhancing treatment precision. Fully absorbed by the body, it contributes to improved clinical outcomes with reduced toxicity.
BioProtect - Balloon Implant
It enables safe hypofractionation and high-dose escalation techniques, increasing tumor control while drastically reducing the likelihood of grade 2 rectal toxicity.
It creates a 1.8 cm distance between the prostate and rectum, allowing for higher dose escalation and hypofractionation, while significantly lowering the risk of treatment-related complications.
Visible on CT, Ultrasound, and MRI, the balloon boundaries are easily identifiable across all imaging modalities.
Provides reproducible separation: as a confined structure with a defined volume, it ensures effective procedural reproducibility.
The transperineal implantation is a simple procedure, which can be performed under local or general anesthesia.
Within six months of implantation, the BioProtect Balloon biologically degrades, eliminating the need for surgical removal.
