Respiratory Gating System
The SDX® is a non-invasive respiratory control system that enables highly precise and reproducible respiratory-controlled treatments. Ideal for thoracic and abdominal radiotherapy, it improves the protection of organs at risk and enhances dose efficacy.
With real-time visual feedback and guided breath-holds, the SDX® helps patients maintain a consistent breathing pattern, facilitating techniques such as DIBH (Deep Inspiration Breath Hold). Compatible with any imaging and planning system, it easily integrates into the clinical environment, promoting safety and comfort for both healthcare professionals and patients.
SDX®
The SDX® is a voluntary respiratory control system that limits movement associated with thoracic and abdominal tumors, both during imaging acquisition and radiotherapy treatment.
Ergonomic and equipped with intuitive software, it is easy to use for both the radiotherapy team and patients. The system consists of a spirometer paired with a visualization device (for both the team and the patient).
The software allows the team to analyze and determine the appropriate breath-hold volume for each patient. The patient is then guided to reproduce the determined breath-hold volume, using feedback provided through the visualization goggles.
With the addition of the SDX® trolley, the system can be easily integrated into the simulation and treatment workflow, allowing simple access to the equipment and improving its portability between different treatment and simulation rooms.
The unique capability of this system to pair the inspired air volume with simple, clear biofeedback maximizes the stability of internal organs and the target area, allowing higher tumor doses while simultaneously reducing toxicity to vital organs.
- Reduces tumor motion during imaging and treatment;
- Improves image acquisition and visualization;
- Enables reduction of geometric margins;
- Supports increased treatment dose and reduced toxicity to organs at risk;
- Allows repositioning of healthy tissues outside high-dose regions;
- Enhances the reliability and reproducibility of DIBH treatment techniques.
- SDX® with DIBH is a highly effective cardiac-sparing technique for treating left-sided breast cancer. DIBH enables displacement of the heart during isocenter planning, allowing for a significant reduction in radiation dose to the heart
